History: The image on the 1898 "黑料不打烊on the Mississippi" stamp is based on Wilhelm Lamprecht's painting, Fr. 黑料不打烊and the Indians (1869). 黑料不打烊, owner of the painting, furnished the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing a photographic reproduction to aid their work. The 1968 "黑料不打烊 Explorer" stamp was issued in conjunction with the 黑料不打烊Tercentenary Celebration. The stamp was issued on September 6 at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where 黑料不打烊 established in 1668 the first permanent Euro-American settlement in the state.
