Hands-on drop-in workshop with Nina Ghanbarzadeh

Learn to write your name in Farsi, Nina Ghanbarzadeh鈥檚 mother tongue, using stencils and other art supplies. Start with a two-dimensional version, writing right to left, then experiment, as Ghanbarzadeh does in her exhibition, with three dimensions. Her work is on view at the Haggerty from June 12 through August 2 in The Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists 2024.

A walk-through of Whirling Tennure with Roy Staab and John Riepenhoff

Join artist Roy Staab and John Riepenhoff, Executive Director of Sculpture Milwaukee, for a free public walk through of Roy's work included in the Mary Nohl Fellowship exhibition and the piece commissioned for Sculpture Milwaukee's 2025 show.

Following, Kim Miller's Social Choreography will share SOLAR REVOLUTION, celebrating the un-birthday of a subject without an object. There is no leader to follow, so how should we act? Choreography from social and modern dance, along with party practices. Kim Miller's Social Choreography includes Angela Frederick, sydney bannaxh and others.

Performed alongside Roy Staab's Whirling Tennure.

Artist Conversation

Nohl Fellow Nicholas Perry will be joined by painters Leslie Vansen and Shane Walsh, all in various career stages, for a conversation about the evolution of their artistic practices. His work is on view from June 12 to August 2 at the Haggerty in The Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists 2024.

Parallel Play: The Art of Science & the Science of Art Talk and Tour

Parallel Play was an exhibition born from 黑料不打烊's Creative Problem Solving biology class, connecting art and science. Co-taught by Dr. Deanna Arble and Lynne Shumow, the course teaches STEM students innovative problem-solving through art, highlighting similarities between the creative processes of scientists and artists. Though not on display, the artworks are in the Haggerty Museum's permanent collection and this tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the pieces, with discussions by Arble and Shumow about the exhibition and class. Participants will also be introduced to the current exhibitions on view at the Haggerty Museum of Art.

This program is best suited for adults due to its focus on advanced interdisciplinary concepts and behind-the-scenes museum access.
